What is the V16 Warning Light?

Why this new regulation?
The Spanish government introduced this requirement to enhance traffic safety. Traditional warning triangles require drivers to exit their vehicles, often leading to dangerous situations—particularly on highways. The V16 warning light offers a safer alternative that can be activated from inside the vehicle.
Additionally, from 2026 onwards, approved V16 lights must be equipped with GPS connectivity and linked to a traffic control center. This will enable real-time reporting of breakdowns and faster response from emergency services.
Requirements for the V16 Warning Light

- Goedkeuring: De lamp moet gecertificeerd zijn volgens de Spaanse wetgeving.
- Zichtbaarheid: Het licht moet zichtbaar zijn tot op een afstand van 1 kilometer.
- Connectiviteit: Vanaf 2026 moeten de lampen beschikken over GPS-connectiviteit en in staat zijn om locatiegegevens door te geven.
